All it is
All it takes
Is saying “yes”
To something as simple
As teaching your son
To build a fire
And making s’mores together
After dinner.
He exclaimed,
“Best day ever!”
You’d think we traveled
To Disney and back.
But no,
Just our back garden.
I took a moment of respite
to sit and reflect today
(I won’t tell you where) 🚽
and looked out the window
For a short while.
I asked myself
how many times
I’ve said
or heard
I love you
from family
And friends
but how ‘I love you’
To me
Is best said
but mostly felt
By actions.
People show you
How they feel
About you.
I think about this
Often now.
I want our children
(And our family and friends
Don’t worry
I won’t leave you out)
To feel our love
To remember we said ‘yes’
To the extra effort
It took
To build a log fire
Or bust out a board game
(Anything but Pokemon 😩!!!)
Or bake together
Knowing
That small eggshells
Will need scooping out
And
sugar
And flour
Are going to go
Everywhere
And the baby
Will crawl through it
And need a bath
But we weren’t stressed
Because we weren’t rushed.
We were together
Making a memory
Saying ‘I love you’
Without saying ‘I love you.’
I’m curious, what are some things you do that say “I love you,” without saying “I love you?”
Quiet reflection: What are some ways you could improve on showing people you love them without saying “I love you?”
I see all 5 love languages here and that’s beautiful! ❤️
