Take note
Of ordinary days
Undone hair
And a hat
Good enough
For walking
Outside
Lavender blossoms
Waiting
For more green
To arrive
Windy-ish
Cold enough
For a coat
Baby
Cheerios
Right hip
Pinching
Booked a massage
In a month
…
Asked Alexa
For my to do list
It’s 12 lines long
I said
“Alexa, stop reading to do list”
Packed baby into the carriage
Went for a walk
on the path
I walk
She notices
More than I
My nose
Is in my phone
Multitasking
Emails
And my to do list
But I look up
Enough
To see
Lavender purple
And as much
As I think
Today is an ordinary day
And I slipped by unnoticed
I stop to remark
The brilliance
Of God’s purple
On the side of the Potomac
Transported to lavender fields
In France
Buzzing bees
Rows
Of color.
Is this ordinary?
A color to make you pause
To lift your busy nose
From the phone
And stop the carriage
And time travel
Without a passport
Standing on the side of the Potomac
And I don’t even like purple.
Presence is so powerful! Love this! ❤️
