I have
At the moment
Let me count:
A rebuttal
Putting Morgan to sleep
Will I get a chance to put Ollie to sleep tonight?
Hi Matt, welcome back home
Clean the poop out of the tub
Tidy up after kids are asleep
Hope the new running shoes help achy knees
If Morgan goes to bed early so should I
I should make some tea
Thinking about starting a stretching routine before bed—they kind of routine that likely lasts a night
Have patience you will get your body back soon
Hope the salmon didn’t dry out sitting out for Matt
Going on a walk tomorrow pack baby carrier for when Morgan screams (teething! Tired!)
Send an email to school about kids telling ollie he couldn’t play
Checklists
To do lists
I’m trying to think my way out of
Let’s see…
At least 14 things
While I nurse Morgan to sleep
I thought
Hey Em
Why don’t you use
This quiet time
(I hope it stays quiet
But last night
I said
In my head
Putting her to sleep
Was effortless
And then she blinked her eyes open
With a dark laugh
And bit me
Somewhere I ought
Not to say)
To sort through your thoughts
And maybe something will appear
That you want to write about.
My list
Of 14 things
Swirled around me
And wouldn’t stop
Even when I gave them attention
And responded
In my head
Swirl swirl swirl
In all different directions
And I wondered
Do my friends
who don’t have children
Also get bumped around
By competing thoughts?
So that’s 15 things now
On my mind
And I closed my eyes
Took a deep breath
And everything disappeared
I don’t think I can do that trick
With a baby
Screaming in the car seat
For 30 minutes straight
But that close your eyes thing
And take a deep breath
It really works.
I should make it a routine
To do right before bed
(And stick with it!)
